Issue:
Despite being a leading rehabilitation and teaching hospital, the senior team identified issues related to their culture that they felt were holding them back from achieving their mission.
Objectives:
Develop a common understanding of the culture and values of the hospital; identify the culture they wish to create in the hospital; identify cultural behaviours that support the hospital’s values and the new culture they created; provide support and advice to assist the team in formulating its action plan and timelines for any change initiative.
Results:
The culture at the hospital has shifted significantly for the better. The change has been noted by external partners. The senior management team created a culture that they could all support by adopting new behaviours and enrolling staff in the possibility of the new culture. Relationships among staff are remarkably improved and there is a new sense of partnership and collaboration across the hospital.
